According to the Alzheimer’s Association, as much as 80% of caregivers experience high levels of stress and nearly half suffer from depression. Some warning signs of stress include: anger, fatigue, irritability, sleeplessness, lack of concentration, and social withdrawal.
Some ideas to help reduce the signs of stress include: talking to friends and family while utilizing community support groups, take care of yourself by maintaining a healthy diet, exercise, and getting plenty of rest, and be realistic about what you can do. Don’t feel guilty if you lose patience or can’t do everything on your own.
